Georges MANZANA-PISSARRO (1871-1961) - Lot 164
Georges MANZANA-PISSARRO (1871-1961) "Fishermen Martins" Original stencil with silver highlights on gold background 27 x 45 cm (on view) and 45 x 62 cm with frame, numbered 42/100 with the artist's signature on the lower left. A libertarian and anarchist painter, he is the third son of the impressionist painter Camille Pissarro. In 1894, he chose as a pseudonym the name of his grandmother "MANZANA". In 1910 he adopted his definitive artist's name "MANZANA-PISSARRO". He rubbed shoulders with his father's friends, including Monet, Renoir, Cézanne and especially Gauguin, who gave him a taste for the exoticism in his works.
